Post 28- Self Evaluation

As I sit here at school reflecting on life and my year, with J. Cole blasting in my ears, I begin to think, 'damn where has the time gone?' Almost another year has passed us by with 16 days left till the new year. 2014 has been a rollercoaster ride for me to say the least. Through the seperation of friends and relations, even family members. Through the laughter, tears, sorrow, pain, and joy. I ask that in 2015, I continue to live, with God by my side find my purpose, and imp...rove as a better individual so I can live happy and free. Free from pain, from from scares. Free to love, to each is own. Cleanse my mind and learn to fly. I will soon look behind me and say "look how far youve came?" They say that dreams come true and when they do its a beautiful thing. As I close this chapter in my life, my blessings that Ive been yerning for are slowly approaching.

Post 27- DIFFERENT IS GOOD

Hey I'm back again to talk more about my awesome English class this quarter at South University. The teaching technique was a lot different than the standard reading chapter and writing papers. A writing arguements course based around 21st century technology, all the assignments were on the class wiki. the class wiki was a site just for students made by the Professor.
Having the accessibility to view your classmates blogs, complete discussions, and do the short and to.the point workshop assessments for the week was all neat features included, and I thought that was an ingenius idea.

Post 26- Google +

How convenient is it that Google is mobile 24/7. Before starting this Writing course with Professor Hamon, my only purpose for google was its search engine. Besides that, I used Yahoo as my mail recipent. Google + is pretty neat to say the least. You can create documents, post blogs, check your email, and even search the web. Now I'm not sure if any other search engine has that broad of features, but to know that i have access to many cool gadgets at the touch of my fingertips is mind blowing. Technology has really improved!

Post 25- Wiki in Class

This quarter I had the Opportunity to experience a whole different teaching style in my English course. My Professor uses this site called Wiki for all his classes where discussions, workshops, and interaction with other students are taken place. Its different and unique because, it allows the student to expand their knowledge by using internet sources such as Google and/or Google plus, which I will write a seperate post about.

Post 20- Professor's Kindness

At Palm Beach State, it was mandatory that I looked on Rate My Professor to make sure that the Professors that I chose for that quarter wasn't too harsh or just bad teachers overall. At South University, honestly for some reason I didn't feel the urge to have to double check. I just went along with my instance. Having Profeesor Hamon as a English Professor, change alot of my perceptions with writing. Dr. Hamon is simply a wonderful character inside and out. He shows a sincere passion for all his students, with his open door and email at any time policy. Fast as ever with his feedback and responses as well. Saying "if all my professors was like my english professor, I would be happy", is an understatement. I wish Professor was just mastered in ALL my Prerequistes needed for my Program Career. LIFE WOULD BE GOOD!

Post 19- The closing of this quarters chapter..

Thank goodness, this quarter is coming to an end and finals are approaching quickly. Stressed is not even the proper term to use under my particular circumstances. PErsonal situations are interferring with my educstion at the moment but all I can do is try my best to remain focused and keep my eye on the prize. With that being said i would like to wish all my colleagues the best of luck with their finals and remaining class sessions.

Post 18- Goodbye with the old, and hello with the new..soon

And just when I thought things couldn't get any worst. The final days of the semster quarter is approaching and im out of a car. WHERES TRANSPORTATION WHEN NEEDED THE MOST!!! Just my luck. Its already stressful eough to take on the debt that im swimming in along with the studying and assignments needed to be completed for school. I just can't win it seems like. Hopefully when the timing is right I will be able to get something reliable and confortable enough for me to enjoy and not have to stress about. In the mean time I continue to take it a day at a time.

Post 17- Thanksgiving 2014

This year has presented alot of new gestures and adjustments. This year instead of spending the holidays with family the entire evening, I spent the holiday with my roomates and some dear friends. We all gathered like sister and brothers from different backgrounds all as one big ol happy family and ate together. It was pretty interesting to see everybody come together happy and cheerful.

Post 16- Happy Holidays

Like a kid in a candy store, I'm overjoyed about this extra day out from school before thanksgiving. Time to unwind and relax for the next couple of days, because I also have time off from work. A girl just doesn't know what to do with herself.
Give thanks and forgiveness to our families as the year comes to a near finish. Not to forget, stuff our faces! I myself will be house hopping :). Wish all travelers a safe flight as well.

Post 15-Timeliness

A Greek term used for "right time" is is kairos. In writing arguments , knowing the right time along with the right audience, helps the writer's chance at winning his argument. Know your audience and know your appropriate approach to address your issues and concerns This also ties into the writer's credibility.

Post 14- Writing with PATHOS

As I'm in the process of writing my Document 2 for my writing class, I see that I can use alot of PATHOS, also known as tying emotions into your writing. I can take my experiences and use other scholarly sources to add to my paper. For my arguement to have creditbility, pathos can simply help with that situation, allowing me to have a strong argumentative paper.

Post 13- Argumentative Writing with Ethos

If you are taking an English course on writing with arguements, if not already you will soon learn all about the "ingredients" needed for your arguement. One of those important mixtures are the Ethos and their purpose for your writing. Tonight this blog post will be about creating and using effective Ethos. Along with Pathos, and logic, all three come together from different aspects of the same whole to present a strong arguementive paper.
Creating an Effective Ethos involves great credibility. You must be knowledgeable about your issue/s, be fair, and build a bridge to connet to your audience. In my Doc2 I will be arguing about a specific issue/area of concern in another class that I am currently or previously taking. Using Ethos I will connect with my audience through research of similar experiences that they may have with the same issues. Therfore I can form an understanding of the values im trying to discuss.

Post 12- Student Loans

Fresh out of high school, I got accepted into Pace University with a 10,000 scholarship, and also Manhattan College , in NEw York. I gave up those opportunities because I told myself I didnt want to be a victim of loans up to my neck in my early 20s. Looking back at life, I sould of took my chances. here I am 2 going on 3 years later and i'm in more debt than I could imagine. Sad to say I still haven't even entered the nursing program yet! I regret my decision to stay in Florida almost everyday. Suffering the conseqences, I must still strive for EXCELLENCE, just at a smarter stand point. Shaking my head at myself!

Post 11- Natural Sistas

Hello to all my naturals, this one is for you! Day after day I always recieve lovely compliments on my hair. Questions like what products do I use and hair regimens, so I decided to make a post about it all =).
First and foremore dont be scared of water, its your best friend! Many stories say that it dries out the hair and damage the ends when you comb wet hair, but its all a Lie. A good deep condition is needed at least once a week. My fav. product by far is Miss Jessie's Super Sweetback Treatment.
This wonderful creation leaves my hair super soft and bouncy, plus the fragrance is to die for! Im big on smells too. Give her product line a try and I promise you will fall in love!
Another good tip is to create a water bottle mixture inluding:
  • Oil for a serum (Taaji Waajd healing oil, other oils like Tea Tree Oil, Coconut Oil, Mint Oil, and Alvacado Oil all work good too)
  • Leave in condition of your choice(I prefer Miss Jessies Creme de la Creme conditioner
  • AND LAST BUT NOT LEAST WATER!
Give your bottle a shake and now your own your way! A spray of this every morning over your hair style keeps moisture. Other helpful hints and trick I find on youtube. You can learb everything about protective hair styles such as two strand twist, bantu knots, flex rods and more!

Growing healthy beautiful hair is a trial and error run when it comes to finding the right product best for you. Get creative and/or share what helps you!

Post 10- Black Friday 2014

Tis the season to be saving, lalalala la la la laaaa! Thats right, time is flying and Black Friday is closer than we know it. Personally I never was a big fan on going out , being the first in line just to get trampled over a scarced item in the store. Online shopping was the best thing invented because theres alittle something call cyber -savings!
But then there are the individuals that MUST be first in line. With just my luck having to work black friday should be very interesting! Clothes all out of wack, over-crowded areas, long lines! A mad house, I can forsee the future already. Call me crazy but I'm secretly excited to say the least.

Post 9 - A Death in the Family

My condolscences goes out to my dearest cousin, whom lost her dog yesterday morning. Now I know as you click on this post you think I'm going to speak about someone human but I'm not. That's right her dog, Paco, was found dead in her home. Paco was like her first child, he was spoiled rotten, I was even jealous of all the attention he recieved. Although some individuals including myself may not have that special companion that they are attached to, so this topic wouldn't be as significant. I find it intriguing that a animal can fill a place in a humans heart to where they're truly mourning when an incident like this occurs. Paco is now in a better place... well hopefully! You know the saying "All dogs don't go to heaven", so lets just hope, hes not round the corner waiting to play tricks! Okay, Okay enough of my dry humor. Believe it or not I had several dogs, and even a cat, and have lost them as well. I've learned to cope and remember the good times we shared.. and then eventually get another one. Let's just pray my cousin can do the same!

Post 8- Smartphone Addition

How likely is it for you to be surrounded by a crowd and nearly 80% of the people have their eyes glued to their phones? Its safe to say that the innovation of a smartphone has become ruler of society today. I am Posting this very blog post off my Galaxy s5 as we speak! Smartphones have been the source of nearly everything imaginable. That's neat and all, but don't you think it takes away from verbal communication amongst others? I would like to think so.

Americans spend over 6hours a day using their high-tech devices, all wrapped up in their own personal functions that they lose site to the bigger picture. They make these devices seldomly for addiction purposes and they got just that! Smartphones take away from human society to just be theirselves.

First and foremost in modern world, it would be rude to pull out your cell phone to check facebook, emails, or send that irrelevant text message, while other persons are present looking for a decent conversation. But somehow that act of rudeness turned into a trend. Maybe if standby time was as popular as usage for these smartphones, society could get a grip on reality and truly learb how to be an INDIVIDUAL instead of computerized based.

Post 7- Medical Marijuana

November 4th is the time to be heard with your votes! Who do you want in office this term? What rights do you agree with and want to take a stand for? 23 states down can we make it 24 states that have legalized marijuana? Lets think about this for a second. Now I know alot of individuals may throw there hands in the air and say "is the government serious, why must they continue to dish out our funds on unneccessary things?" Well after conducting my own personal research, medical marjiuana is the least of our problems! For all I know there has been ZERO cases of vitcims dying from this stand of drug, but I cant confidently say that about all the other legal drugs and substances that are out there available to the public. YES, it may impair judgment, but so does alcohol and oxycotone! But unlike all those other abused substances, medical marjiuana can be prescribed to individuals with Cancer, Khron's Disease, and more. So, I say VOTE YES!

Post 6- Sunday Funday

As my day unwinds itself, I can reflect on my homework and blog my life away. Sundays are typically my longest day of the week dealing with work all day and homework afterwards. It gets pretty draining but hey, someone out there feels my pain too! Today my coworkers and I conducted a meeting on behalf of our participation in the St. Jude's fundraiser. I am more than happy to be a part of this fundraiser because cancer is not only scary to think about , but I hold this subject very dear to my heart because I personally have my own connection with this topic. My clothing store NYCO has been a major sponsor for St. JUDE'S fundraiser for some time now, raising $12.6 million last year. This is just unbelievably incredible, and to think, I will take part in this generosity this year! I just finished registering for the walk which will be held on Nov 22 at John Prince Park for Palm Beach County. Im asking all my fellow blogger and anybody that reads this to please DONATE! EVERY PENNY COUNT; EVERY CHILD IS WORTH IT.

Help me reach my goal by making a small or big donation to my personal page http://walk.stjude.org/brionawilliams

All donations made on the website goes directly to st jude fundraiser. Lets turn that 80% fighting chance into 100%!

Post 5- Confidentiality

Good Morning fellow bloggers,
Oh my, never have I been sitting in a doctor's office lab waiting room, and out comes the assistant scolding a patient about his poor decision-making with the medicine that he's taking. First and foremost, if I'm not mistaken isn't that invasion to his right to privacy.
Not only does the outsides know his medical history but it was just inappropriate! I seem to be the only one that thinks this. Others are just laughing and proceed to converse about to matter. The woman next to me is going on and on about the decorations of the facility, and the gentleman in the back of the room is hollerin' about medical Marijuana! It's a mad house in here I tell you! Way to start my morning, but on a side note, dont forget to vote on November 4,2014 if you haven't already.

Post 4- MISS PROcrastinator

Gloryyy!!!! My books are finally on their way. Hell if South University didn't try to take a run for my money, I would of been had my school books. Yes, I waited # weeks into school to purchase my books, but times get hard when, I attend such a expensive school that only takes a portion of my financial aid, charges out-of-pocket expenses, and have books that AREN'T even included in tuition. That's where my topic for DOC1 comes into effect. My classmates and I have all joined together and made varies of valid points on our issues about this inconvenience. I passionately feel that this matter should be resolved, and decided to state my claim for this ludicrous idea of South University.

Post 3- Reliability

Fun fact of the day. Cars are the most valuable materialistic thing one could ever possess. Think about it this way, without a car you probably couldn't keep that nice job and would have to settle for possibly something less, just because. Without a car there wouldn't be much to explore. In the sunshine state public transportation sucks, therefore having a vehicle is less luxurious and becomes more of an necessity. And here lies my biggest issue of the day, repetitive car troubles. Old Oliver, and yes; my car goes by the name 'Oliver', decided not to turn over due to an bad ignition. Now here I am with more obtacles on my plate and more money being dished out. Talk about emergency funds when you need them the most, right! Here is where , my optimistic values come into effect. It could always be worst. But then again maybe its time to say out with the old and invest in getting something reliable.

Post 2- Blogging back in the Day

When I was younger, I had a personal diary that I wrote in practically everyday. My piece of mind, that allowed me to talk about the things I hated, the things I cherished the most, and the places I would like to be in life. Who knew that that was a form of blogging! Except the only thing is, I was always too shy to share my writings out loud. However, discovering blogger as a source to post blogs; helps with the elaboration of ideas, where others can comment their opinions as well. Believe it or not my people skills aren't that great, and blog post are an awesome way to network and gain knowledge. This bloghemosphere is the power of the 21st century networking in my opinion!

Post 1- School Improvement

A far better upgrade from Palm Beach State, but like any other College, there is always room for improvement. I understand that Private Colleges costs are more expensive than average, but what are we really paying if the school still lacks in important things! First and foremost, books should be included in tuition. Policy makes it manadatory for students to have their reading materials, however the books cost a fortune! A discount of some sort should be provided to say the least. Another issue that comes up frequently is the internet software being up to date. How is it possibe for we, the students to recieve the most efficient learning objectives with out-of-date programs? Something is not right here, are we really getting what we pay for? And let's not mention the food selection! Seriously, it reminds me of school cafe lunch. Don't get me wrong, South University is a wonderful school in regards to class size and the passion the instructors feed off, but once again there is always room for imporvement. To be great, expectations must be high. I can't fully say that South University meets all these expectations.
